The UN High Level Political Forum (HLPF) takes place from 10-19 July 2023 in New York, under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

This year’s theme is ‘Accelerating the recovery from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels‘.

Discussions include a review of how the COVID-19 pandemic impacted on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as seeking what is described as ‘actionable policy guidance’ to implement the 2030 agenda in full, and achieve the SDGs.

Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) will be presented from the following IPA countries:

  • Canada
  • Ireland
  • Slovakia
  • Zambia

The HLPF acknowledges that while the SDGs are absolutely interlinked, it will pay particular attention to reviewing the following five SDGs in 2023:

Goal 6 – Clean water and sanitation

Goal 7 – Affordable and clean energy

Goal 9 – Industry, innovation and infrastructure

Goal 11 – Sustainable cities and communities, and

Goal 17 – Partnerships for the Goals.
